Some Windows Processes Can Hog System Resources And Can Be Disabled

Windows Processes, sometimes knowns as Background Processes or Windows Services are software that runs in the background while your PC is operating.

Some of these processes can use up lots of computer resources (like your memory and your processor) that you actually need to run other applications and software, resulting in a very slow computer.

It's hard to know that these windows services are running because you didn't take any action to start them up and they run invisibly in the background.

Mostly they start up automatically when you start up your computer and log in to Windows. Sometimes they start up when you start up software and they remain running in the background even after you have closed the software.

There are countless different processes which could be running in the background invisible to your eye. Some of them could be irrelevant to the effective operation of your computer. Some of these processes could even be malicious!!!

There are three things that you need to do in order to find out what windows processes are running in the background on your computer and which ones you can switch off permanently.

Firstly, to find out what processes are running you need to learn how to use the Windows Task Manager.

Secondly, you need to understand what the running processes are actually doing and whether or not they are essential. I have found the best resource for this is the excellent Uniblue Process Library. This library can be used to check on just about every single background process to see what it does and whether it has malicious intent or is just redundant and can be switched off.

Thirdly, on the processes which are unessential, you need to change their settings so that they don't run automatically. This is done using the services.msc tool which is built into the Windows operating system specifically for managing windows processes.
